Wooden figure of a woman from a domestic tomb model. In the Middle Kingdom, tomb walls were not decorated. Instead wooden models of boats, houses and domestic scenes such as bakeries were placed with the burial to work as servants for the deceased in the afterlife. You can tell this is a female household domestic servant by the yellow painted skin. male figures are painted a brick-red colour, showing the division between indoor and outdoor labour. 130mm.
