This Royal Palace jewel was usually presented to officials and other high ranking persons. During WW2 Bulgaria was a Nazi Germany ally with many pieces presented to high ranking German officials. However these were normally plain gold where as this example is jewelled. Note: There was a jewelled version noted amongst the belongings of the Russian Royal Family that was auctioned at Hotel des Ventes, Geneva 2012.
