One airship L10 became the first German naval airship to actually reach London. It mistook the resevoirs of the Lea Valley for the Thames and bombed Walthamstow and Leytonstone in error. 10 people were killed, 48 injured and property damage estimated at £30,750. L10 was destroyed around 2 weeks later when it was struck by lightning. This medal rather fancifully depicts zeppelins bombing Tower Bridge. Desribed in Eimer, no. 1944b. Lightly toned GVF £60 - £80
