Two large silver double handled serving trays, hallmarked 'IET (John Edward Terry), London 1840', both with matching engraving, depicting a gentleman stood in a toll booth, beside a four bar gate, the larger tray engraved 'Debenham, This Dessert Service (comprising five Dishes) is Presented to John Freeman Esquire, As a small Testimonial for his indefatigable Exertions in obtaining Subscriptions for liquidating a Debt of £700 and thereby removing five Principal & fourteen Side Toll-Gates, From the Turnpike Road, extending from Woodbridge to Eye, and Exonerating the Road from Tolls on the 6th day of July 1835', the smaller tray with cartouche reading 'Woodbridge', sizes 34cm x 44cm & 27cm x 33cm approx.
