Braithwell Hoard, South Yorkshire, England, 2002, sold with details of the hoard, VF this together with a silver denarius of Maximinus I, reverse:- Pax, Sear 8302, GVF [2] £50 - £60 1477 Tiberius 'silver' denarius the 'Tribute Penny' probably ancient forgery, Sear 1763, sold 'as seen', F, with a ditto of the Dynastic Coinage of Septimius Severus, reverse:- Facing bust of Julia, flanked by busts of Caracalla and Geta, facing inwards, probably modern forgery, sold 'as seen', NVF, with a bronze hemiobol of c.20mm., of Claudius of Alexandria, Egypt, reverse:- Hippotamus standing right, both dies off centre, F and lastly a small Jewish bronze, of the Roman occupation, GF [4] £40 - £50 1478 Tiberius brass sestertius, Rome Mint 36-37 A.D., obverse:- TI CAESAR DIVI AVG AVGVST P M TR POT XXXVI around central S C, reverse:- Temple of Concordia, hexastyle, cult-statue within, decorated with other statuary on roof top and at sides of temple, Sear 1766 and with a full ticket by Dr. Vezin, who has traced a die-duplicate, rare, NF/GF £80 - £100 1479 Tiberius II Constantine, Byzantine gold solidus, obverse reads:- D M TIb CONSTANT P P AVS, reverse reads:- VICTORIA AVGG, followed by officina letter 'H', in exergue CONOB, Constantinople Mint, Sear 422, on the style of this coin, I would place as a modern forgery, probably struck in gold, GVF £80 - £120 1480 Tiberius plated contemporary forgery of the Trbute penny, sold 'as seen', obverse slightly off centre, GF, with a ditto but of Geta, reverse:- PIETAS AVG over jug etc., sold 'as seen', dark, VF, and a ditto but of Julius Caesar, reverse:- Elephent trampling a serpent or dragon. Sear 1399, a modern forgery, sold 'as seen', both dies slightly off centre, F, and lastly a group of late small bronzes, [15], in total [18] £40 - £50 1481 Tiberius silver denarius, Lugdunum Mint 15-16 A.D., the Biblical Tribute penny, Sear 1762, good metal, GVF £150 - £200 1482 Trajan copper as with an interesting reverse:- Arabia standing to the front, head left, holding branch and cinnamon sticks, at her feet a camel, in ex. ARAB ADQVISIT, Sear - , RIC II. p.287, 611, found River Ivel, Biggleswade, Jan.1973-1975, when river was dredged, scarce, light scuff each side, VF/NVF £75 - £95 1483 Trajan silver denarius, reverse:- Pax seated left, Dacian captive kneeling at her feet, Sear 3162, VF, with a ditto but of Sabina reverse:- Concordia, Sear 3918, reverse slightly off centre, VF and lastly a ditto but of Hadrian, reverse:- Fides, Sear 3492, VF [3] £60 - £80 1484 Trajan silver denarius, reverse:- Providentia, globe at feet, Sear - . GVF,with a silver washed antoninianus of Tacitus, reverse:- Pax, Sear 11788, with much silvering, GVF, with a ditto but of Postumus, reverse:- Pax standing, evidence of silvering, VF and lastly a colonial copper of c.18mm. with the bust of Augustus, F [4] £50 - £60 1485 Trebonianus Gallus, sestertius, Rome Mint 252 A.D., reverse:- Juno seated facing, within circular distyle shrine with domed roof, Sear 9671, with a ticket by Dr. Vezin, nice portrait, NVF/F £40 - £50 1486 Vabalathus and Aurelian joint coinage of Alexandria, Egypt, 270-271 A.D. billon tetradrachm, obverse:- Laureate, diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Vabalathus, right, reverse:- Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Aurelian, right, both fields with mint officina L and a triangle [year 4] and L A [year 1], see Sear 11720, no corrosion, scarce in this grade, GVF £50 - £70 1487 Vespasian ases, reverse:- Standing female, F/NF, with a ditto, reverse:- Altar-enclosure, Sear 2360, GF/F and lastly a ditto but reverse:- Eagle standing on globe, Sear 2362, both dies slightly off centre, F, all found River Ivel, Biggleswade, Jan.1973-1975, when river was dredged, [3] £50 - £70
