Jacket: stand and fall collar, fastened by three hooks, patch beast pockets, slit and flap side pockets, cloth belt fastened by bron composition button, other buttons of brown composition, no shoulder straps. Badges: Bird in red silk on both sleeves near the shoulders where the letters RFC were worn. * 1st Class Air Mechanic on both sleeves, 2 bladed propellers worn immediately under the bird. *Sergeant on both sleeves, 3 khaki chevrons. Chevrons for Active Service on right sleeve only. Worsted blue embroidery on khaki (earned on or after 1/1/1915). Note: both are rank badges and were not worn at the same time.
