GB Lord Russell hand signed envelope with 1837 FREE

postmark sent to Lady Lockwood at Tunbridge Wells

(she was sued for desertion by her husband at about this

time). As a politician (City of London MP, and later

Prime Minister) Russell was allowed to use 'Freepost' and

it was necessary to hand sign the envelope. Red wax

elaborate seal to reverse, small tear at top, rear flap

missing, but interesting historical item.
