and attached to 106th Brigade, 35th Division. Moved
to Chisledon in August 1915. Landed at Le Havre 1

Batt Durham Light Infantry, Zonnebeke April 26th
1915. Reverse engraved, on original ribbon and pin
bar with case. Later served as a Captain with the
School of Instruction. Lived Spennymoor, Co
Durham. MC L/G 29 June 1915 'For conspicuous
gallantry and tenacity at Zonnebeke from 26th to
30th April 1915, when he with his company held a
trench under heavy shell fire. His company was short
of water and rations, and he had no flare pistols or
periscopes and no previous experience of trench
warfare. The losses of his company in killed and
wounded were 45 out of a total of 120'. With
