Stephen silver penny fragment of cut halfpenny size,
of BMC 1, Cross Moline / 'Watford' Type, reverse
reads:- ]ED:ON:T[, there are three mints listed in
J.J.N., beginning 'T', Tamworth, Taunton and
Thetford, it cannot be Thetford as no moneyer
working there ends 'ED', there is at Tamworth
[Alvred] but the mint is listed for BMC VII only, an
Alfred worked at Taunton, in BMC 1, the mint not
being known for any other type of Strephen and this
could be our present mint but it would need a die link
to prove it, VF, with an Edward I silver penny of
London [pellet before], VF and an Edward III silver
halfpenny reading +EDWARDVS REX, GF [3]

both legends reading outwards, Sear 1763, the
'Tribute Penny' mentioned in the bible, reverse struck
