entitled to free post, eldest illegitimate son of King
William 1V. Addressed to Lady Augusta FitzClarence
(his illegitimate daughter) at Lord Egremont’s estate at
Petworth Sussex. King died 20 June 1837, and his niece
Victoria became Queen (as illegitimate people were not
permitted into the monarchy). This mourning envelope is
backstamped Brighton July 13 1837 postmark. Seal
