8 88 Fine Colt single action Model 1873 'Peacemaker' 6 shot revolver. Serial number 153839. The revolver was manufactured in 1892 and was shipped to the E.C. Meacham Arms Company in St Louis, Missouri on December 12th 1893. Part of a shipment of 10 guns. Calibre .41 (obsolete, no certificate required). Barrel 4.75" marked 'Colts Pt. F.A. MFG Co. Hartford CT. USA'. Patent dates to Jan 19th 1875 with rampant Colt logo. Side of barrel marked '.41 COLT'. Hard rubber 'EAGLE' grips showing handling wear. Serial No. 839 scratched inside the grip panels. All numbers match including the grips. Light holster near to muzzle. Good bore, crisp action and tight lock up. Fading blued finish. Sold with official Colt letter confirming details of shipment and a Home Office letter confirming no licence required. An outstanding piece of American 'Wild West' history from lawless Missouri (Jesse James, Younger Gang etc). VGWO & condition. Please don't dry fire. Fully tested. £3600 - £4000 89 German Model 1879 Reich Commissions Revolver. Calibre 10.6mm (obsolete, no licence required). Barrel 7" with cannon barrel muzzle & part round, part octagonal section serial number 6242, on barrel and frame. The revolver is dated '1882' to the left of the frame. Oval makers mark 'S&S. VCS C.G.H. SUHL' (V.C Schilling & Cie, Spangen & Cacier & Cie). This was the standard German Cavalry revolver used from 1879 to 1945 including service in the Boxer Rebellion, WW1 and WW2. Six shot cylinder. Side loading gate, single action with lever safety. Two piece walnut grips. All screws marked '42' the last two figures of the serial no. Buttcap with heavy lanyard ring. Regimentally marked 'R.I.M. 33.7' (Reserve Infantry Munitions Column. 33rd Company. Weapon No 7.) This marking for WW1 the Cavalry 'K' Kurassier Regiment Marking has been hatched out. The revolver is entirely original and has an old fading blued finish. Action in very good working order (fully tested, please don't dry fire). Bore good. William Edwards H.G.' and a WW2 Defence Medal, Citation as follows: 'Company Quarter Master Sergeant William Edwards. 9th Battalion Essex Home Guard (Mistley)' 'This NCO has rendered most valuable service to his company ever since its formation. In addition to carrying out his normal duties in a most efficient & conscientious manner, he has lent accommodation for stores, vehicles & officers, provided transport, labour & materials of all kinds free of charge and allowed use of ground for training. He has acted in a most helpful and generous manner throughout.' His address was Rookery Farm, Ardleigh, Essex. Award in London Gazette of 15th December 1944. Defence & War Medal (1939-45) and 1953 Coronation Medal (unnamed as issued). He was also awarded the C.B.E. Medals mounted as worn. Accompanying the medals are a free standing mahogany (?) frame containing 20 Sporting Medals, a number of them named F.C.L. Chauncy' including his Army Championship 'Silver' medal for the 125yds hurdles. Other medals from RMC Sandhurst, interservices Athletics Championship and 4x hallmarked silver school medals to Chauncy. In 1928 Chauncy represented England at the Amsterdam Olympic Games having won the AAA 440 yds hurdles at the annual championship. He reached the semi final but was eliminated by the first 3 runners home in the final. He had a distinguished Army & Diplomatic Career.
