Maker's mark only for TH (possibly Thomas Harper). Has on the front a well executed engraving of a pillar (jewel has been shortened at some time). Weighs 18.5gms. £100 - £120 1074 Masonic unmarked silver Chaplain collar jewel/medal - prob. Victorian. Back marked Lodge of Antiquity 178, Wigan. Weighs 43gms. £120 - £140 1075 Masonic (poss.) unmarked silver medal shows standing lion under a star. Back reads "1938 Eric Benita, Calvert Crofty". (I understand that this was the first year the show was held at the Royal Chelsea Hospital). This item is hallmarked for Elkington & Co., 15.625, London, 1912. Weighs 11.3gms. Also includes a very large gilt medal for The Garden Club of America presented to Frances Perry in 1973, a badge for a R.H.S. Victoria medalist and 9 other badges + 1 medal + some research. (13 items in all) £280 - £320 1081 Motorcycle Club Prize Fobs (6) 1921-1923, 4 in bronze, 2 in silver, plus a 1902-3 Redhill Football Club Surrey League Winners Medal (Capt), all these named to W.H. Kerr, all EF and cased as issued. £60 - £80 1082 Music Medals, a collection of 6x Perthshire Musical Festival bronze medals 1920s-30s named to Henry A. Kerby, EF cased (some cases broken) £30 - £40 1083 Napoleon Bonaparte, French copper medallion, dated 1813 of c.41mm., obverse:- Laureate bust right, signed by F.Andrieu, reverse:- Rocky island, topped by throne, Elba? and signed in two places, D.Denon and F.Brenet, with a couple of rim taps, GVF £60 - £80 1084 Old Price Riots Covent Garden, 1809, white metal medal, condition probably Good Fine, a little dark. Shows on front J.P. Kemble as Shylock with the pointed ears of Mephistopheles. Back of the medal has the initials "OP" "OB" and "DPO" (Old Prices, Old Boxes and Deference to Public Opinion - see page 144 Nos 1005 and 1006 of British Commemorative Medals and their Values by Christopher Eimer. £80 - £100 1085 Proving Piece, silver d.39mm by Martin & Co. for H.H. Abdul Rahman, Ameer of Afghanistan, using a coining press by Greenwood & Batley, GVF, rare in silver. The Ameer of Afghanistan appointed a British mint-master Sir Thomas Salter Pyne of Martin & Co. Civil Engineers, and set up a mint in Kabul using presses purchased from Greenwood & Batley. These 'proving pieces' were struck to test and demonstrate the capability of the machinery.
