Obv: Diademed bust right. / Rev: Bird on cross, 12mm, 1.11g, S.777, nVF, scuffed obverse. £50 - £60 1507 Anglo-Saxon silver sceat, Series BIIIA, Type 27a, obverse:- Diademed head set on trunk of body, within beaded circle, reverse:- Bird sitting on cross, annulet at each cross end and pellet in each lower field, Spink 777A, VF £100 - £120 1508 Carolingian, French silver denier of Charlemagne, Milan Mint, weight 1.13g., which is light for the issue and is thus possibly a contemporary forgery, with a full ticket by Dr.R.Vevzin, large round flan with hairline cracks, well centred, with a couple of very small rust spots, GF £40 - £50 1509 Cnut silver penny, Quatrefoil type. Spink 1157, reverse reads:- +GODRICON COL, Colchester Mint, moneyer Godric, as scarce mint, full, round, well centred, a little weak spot on each side, GVF £250 - £300 1510 Eadmund, 939-946, Small Cross / Two Line silver penny, EADR EDMO, moneyer Eadraed, 1.41g, rare variety, SCBi Merseyside:29:No. 458, N.688/1:VR, S.1105, toned EF with ticket. £500 - £700 1511 Edward the Elder silver penny, Small Cross / Moneyers name in two lines, Spink 1087, moneyer Athelwulf, full, round, well centred, EF £1000 - £1100 1512 Harold I silver penny, Jewel Cross type, Spink 1163, obverse reads:- +HAROOLD RE+, this from the series of 'Lincoln' dies with the King's head 'pulled back' with a large protruding jaw, the reverse seemingly to read:- +FLRGECN.ON LINC: obviously of Lincoln, I can trace no die-link, the moneyer possibly being Waelraeffen?, see Mossop pl.LX, 10-12, apart from the anomalous spelling of the moneyers name, the piece seems to be an issue of the Lincoln Mint, VF/GVF £650 - £850 1513 Harold I, 1035-1040, Fleur-de-Lis silver penny, London mint, moneyer Goldsige, 18mm, 1.09g, N.803a, S.1165, toned VF but crinkled and cracked in places, view carefully. £200 - £250 1514 Offa, 757-796, Canterbury Light Coinage silver penny, moneyer Eoba; Obv: 'OF' in square, cross and ornaments above, floral ornaments at sides, 'RM' below. / Rev: Pellet cross in centre, E O B A around on the leaves of a quatrefoil. 1.22g/3h (Chick 106 ; CEB 17; N. 271; S.907). This specimen has round O's both sides with a central pellet. Most of the coins listed by Chick have lozenge-shaped O's. Toned VF with an edge chip. £400 - £600 1515 William II silver penny, PAXS type, Spink 1257, obverse reads:- +PILLELEM REX, reverse reads:- +PVMIER ON RIM, Romney Mint, moneyer Wulfmaer, possibly at sometime cleaned, full, round, well centred, GVF £350 - £450
