"For conspicuous gallantry during an attack. He attacked
an enemy machine gun post single handed, and
succeeded in putting it out of action when it was causing
many casualties to another company on the flank.
Throughout the action he showed the greatest courage
and devotion to duty". The attack was at Hill 65 near
Bailliul on 6/9/1918. (Hill 65 Lens map reference N25a).

Chester. General citation "for continued good work as
BSM from 1st March to 11th Sept 1918 during
operations in Egypt. In particular the operations leading
to the captures of Taiyebeh, and Kefr Malik in March
1918, when this W/O showed conspicuous gallantry and
devotion to duty". Served in 53rd Welsh Div. During
8th to 12th March 1918 they were involved in the Battle
of Tell 'Asur and in Sept 1918 ie 18th to 21st in the
