Single page manuscript letter in French,
dated 13th February 1807, addressed to
'M. Otto, French minister to court of
Bavaria', and signed to base 'The Prince
of Neuchatel, L.-A. Berthier', the letter
translates 'I take this opportunity of
apprising you, my dear Otto, that a
battle was fought at Eylau on the 8th.
The enemy retreated from the
battlefield to a position behind
Koningsberg. The Emperor is in
excellent health, the army has gone into
winter quarters and yet as I write it is like
a Spring day', 23cm x 19cm approx.
