30 632 Military Medal GV (27620 Dvr R Foley RFA), BWM & Victory Medal (27620 Dvr R Foley RFA). Foley served with 41st Bde HQ RFA. MM L/G 18/7/1917, Gazette date indicates this is a 2nd Div award for gallantry at the Battle of Arras, probably at Vimy Ridge 12th - 14th April 1917. Medal Card states that duplicates of the BWM & Victory Medal were issued 4/12/1940. Foley is also entitled to the 1915 Star, it appears this was not re issued. (3) £200 - £250 633 Military Medal to the Tank Corps (309077 Pte/L.Cpl T H Ball 'F'/6th Bn Tank Corps). On 23/8/18 at Monchy au Bois 6 Whippet Tanks of 'A' Coy were sent to support the 2nd Div attack on Ervillers, Behagnies, Sapignies. Of the 6 Whippets only Tank A-289 survived the action, the other 5 were all destroyed by direct hits from shellfire. Ball drove his A-289 Tank in a frontal attack on a battery of field guns capturing 3 field guns and killing the crews. This was a significant action for 'F' Bn. Their casualties were 5 killed and 16 wounded. MM: L/Gaz: 24.1.19. Citation:- 309077 L/Cpl. Ball, Thomas Henry. 6th Battn. Awarded M.M. near Ervillers on August 23, 1918, L/Cpl Ball was the driver of tank A-289 in action. He drove his tank with exceptional daring and courage. 'In spite of heavy shell fire, which was directed at the tank from an enemy battery in the open, this N.C.O. drove his tank straight for the guns and right in among the gun crews, enabling the gunners in the tank to deal very effectively with the enemy gun crews, who abandoned their guns and retired, leaving a number of dead'.
