Royal Humane Society Medal Small Silver issue named
to William E Moyes A.B. 18th May 1915. Moyes was
later Killed 19/1/1917 while serving on HM Submarine
E36 when it was involved in a collision with E43 off
Harwich. E36 has never been recovered. Moyes was
born at Dartmouth in Devon and had seen earlier service
on Submarine H1. His Citation reads "William E Moyes
went overboard from the ship with a line and succeeded
in saving Lieut Brander RNVR and the Signalman of the
Christire, bringing them to the ship where they were got
on board". Christie was a Canadian Government
Steamer which was run into and sunk in the St Lawrence
River near Quebec. With research NEF (1)
