medal, attributed to The Right Hon the Lord Farquar
GCVO Lord Steward and Master of the Household to
the Royal Family. He was decorated with Grand
Commander Orders by 13x Countries but these awards
& the GCVO were seemingly nearly all returned by his
Family upon his death. Numerous original letters with
the lot refer to this. Born 1844 he became a Politician,
Courtier & successful Businessman. ElectedMP for East
Marylebone 1899-1901 & West Marylebone 1901.
Master of the Royal Household 1901-1907 for Edward
VII, Lord Steward 1906-07, Lord Steward to George V
1915-1922 etc. Country Home was Castle Rising, Kings
Lynn. Baronet 1892, became a Peer "Baron Farquar of
St. Marylebone" 1898, Viscount Farquar of St
Marylebone 1917 and Earl 1922.Created Member
Order of Mercy LG 22-5-1903 & bar 1921. Died 1923,
as Earl GCB,GCVO,DL,JP he left £400,000 inc many
individual bequests to Royalty, very well researched and
