Captain Harold George Pritchett, a Policeman from

Bedworth, who became a United States Army Captain.

He served with the 6901st European Civil Affairs

Division and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

Serving between 1944 and 1947 he was present when

Free French Leader General De Gaulle was shot at by

snipers while taking the salute in the Champs Elysess,

Pritchett was taking photos from his hotel room of the

event when the shooting started. The lot includes the

original Bronze Star Citation, newspaper cuttings, large

photo album, original documents in large scrapbook, etc.

Medals - 1939-45 Star, France & Germany Star, Defence

& War Medal, Bronze Star (named) with case, and

Mussert 1941 Bravery Cross in original box of issue with

ribbon bar. A very interesting and unusual group. (qty)
