Military General Service Medal with clasp Badajoz (John

T. Bennett, Ensn. 77th Foot). 'John T. Benn' engraved or

partially corrected. Rev John Townshend Bennett at the

age of 17 held a commission in the 2nd Rl Regt, Tower

Hamlets Militia 25 May 1810, later appointed an Ensign

in the 77th Foot on 10th May 1811. He retired from the

Army 6th August 1812, later taking Holy Orders,

graduating M.A. from St Peters College, Cambridge

1828. He was present at the Duke of Wellingtons Funeral.

Died 1858 and Buried St Pauls Cathedral. Only 89

Medals issued to the 77th Foot. With research. Scarce

GF. Ex Glen Auction 1976.
