War Medal and Africa Service Medal. All South African
issue officially named M12809 J.M.Carelse. With copy
service documents. John Morris Carelse came from
Jamestown, C.P and enlisted into the I.M.C in 1940 and
served in North Africa being discharged in 1946. Papers
confirm medal entitlement. GVF (5)

WW2 group - 1939-45 Star, War Medal unnamed as issued,
with box lid issue top addressed to Mr B.G.Milligan, Glasgow
NW and Medal Issue Certificate. 2932438 L/Cpl
B.G.Milligan Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders was a
POW In Stalag 9C at Muhlhausen, Germany with Prisoner
Number 1902. The camp was created in 1939 for Polish
Prisoners, Belgian and British Prisoners from the Battle of
France arrived in June 1940. On 29th March 1945 the camp
was evacuated and inmates were forced to march west in
advance of the Soviet Offensive. The march lasted for four
weeks before being freed by US Army Units. A member of
the 1st Battalion who went to France in 1940 and was part of
the retreat to Dunkirk. Most of the POWs were captured in
the Battle of La Bassee on 28th May 1940. His Fathers WW1
medals are also in the auction. (2)

WW2 group - 1939/45 Star and France & Germany Star,
Defence & War Medals, Efficiency Decoration ER11 issue
with top bar Territorial dated 1960, unnamed as issued
awarded to Major F J Cooper RA, mounted for wear with
matching miniatures. Major Frederick John Cooper, TD was
born on 10th February 1910 in Bridport, Dorset. He served
through the Second World War in East Africa and later
France and Germany. In East Africa he served in the 305,
205 and 202 Batteries (East Africa) L.A.A. Regiment, the
East African Artillery Training Centre and Depot, POW
Guard Camp duties at Nairobi and the RA Depot at
Heliopolis, Egypt. His Territorial Decoration (TD) was
announced in the L/G on 17th May 1960 and he ceased to
belong to the Territorial Army on 23rd March 1960 at the
age of 50 retaining the rank of Hon. Major (London Gazette
22nd March 1960). Major Cooper died att the age of 78 in
1989 in Bridport, Dorset. The lot includes TD letter, copies
of the L/G and birth and death records. (5+5)
