RAF Log Book group to W/O D J Thomas (553920)
RAF. Thomas was an Air Gunner who served with 254
(F) Sqdn, 86 Sqdn, 17 Group, 192 Sqdn, 461 Sqdn, and
172 Sqdn during WW2. While serving the Log Book
mentions several encounters with He 111, ME 109, ME
110's during May 1941 (254 (F) Sqdn), on 17th May
1942 (with 86 Sqdn) he noted at 1805 hrs in Beaufort
KAW349 with F/Sgt Boote they were engaged by 15
ME109's, 6 destroyed, one by myself. Later on in May
1945 he notes the sighting of U/Boat 516. The Log Book
is his original however his medals were not issued till July
1991. His late issue medals are 1939-45 Star, Atlantic
Star with Air Crew Europe clasp, War Medal and
General Service Medal GVI with S.E.Asia 1945-46 clasp.
Also with the group is paperwork relating to 2028387
LACW V Sullivan RAF, her paperwork is also original
but the War Medal is a postwar late issue. Interesting
