Model 1870. Barrel 4.5 (shortened during working life).
Frame marked 'ADAMS PATENT No 977'. Good
chequered walnut grip, unfluted cylinder with proof

'ADAMS PATENT SMALLARMSCO 391 STRAND
LONDON'. These large .450 cal, service revolvers were
purchased by officers as their personal sidearm between
1870 & 1881 incorporating the Zulu Wars. Action in

Panel etched 'USN' A further panel with the owners
name. 'JAMES BITTING'. Clean etched blade 32" Top
flat with number 77164 which dates the sword to 1956.
Ricasso marked 'Wilkinson Sword Ltd & KILBORN -
HAMBERGER INC'. In its brass mounted leather
scabbard.Wirebound fishskinhilt withbullion knot (A.F.)

Sword: A scarce 'Joubert Cledd' issued to soldiers of the
9th/Bn R.W. Fus. by their C/O Baron Howard de
Walden. Leaf shaped blade marked 'DROS URDRAS
CYMRU' & 'JO' Jouherts trademark. Blade 17.5". Rope
bound grip. In its canvas & leather scabbard. Surface age
rusting overall, blade stained. Sword design based on the
Welsh 'Cledd' sword. They were issued for use in trench
raids. *Note copies are known, viewing recommended.

Sword: An 1854 type pattern sword. Three bar hilt,
wirebound fishskin hilt. Straight blade 35" made by
FIRMIN &SONS, STRAND LONDON. Faint etching
to blade reveals it to be a police sword.One panel etched
'57-58' 'POLICE FORCE'. Second panel 'N.W.
POLICE' Blade flat marked 'LONDON MADE'.
Overall good condition. NO SCABBARD. Attractive
sword in good condition.

Sword: An interesting gothic revival broadsword circa
1875. Twist ball pommel, wirebound grip, re-curving 'S'
quillions. Straight double edged, diamond section blade
with rounded tip. In its steel mounted leather scabbard.
The blade ricasso is stamped 'WHITES LONDON'.
This indicates the sword was the property of the oldest
and most exclusive gentlemen's club in London with a
reputation for exclusivity and the raffish (disgraceful!!)
conduct of its members. Prince Charles held his stag
night there before hismarriage toLadyDianaSpencer. it
was a notorious gambling house. Lord Alvanley bet a
friend £3,000 to which 2 raindrops would reach the
bottom of the pane of glass first. Whites would hire out
swords and other items to its members. They were all
stamped 'Whites London'. Blade 32". Good condition,
lightly rustedoverall. A collector's lot.
