Tank Corps Interest: a detailed silver (?) plated model of

a Great War Tank. Solid construction, length approx 5",

width 2.5". Probably designed as a paperweight. Made

circa 1918-25. A nice quality model. A collector's item.

Tank Helmet: An extremely rare model 1916 leather

British Tank Crew helmet. Helmet comprises 4 riveted

leather sections. Leather lined with cross supports. Liner

leather has gone hard with age. Side panel with faint

inscription (FLAMINGO?). Chin strap appears to have

been cut off and is absent. This helmet is from a museum

collection and is featured in Peter Doyle's book 'The First

World War in 100 objects'. History Press. It conforms

exactly to existing pictures of original helmets. Overall

leather work is in good condition but dry and hard inside

the shell. These helmets were only used during the First

Tank attack at Flers on 15.9.16. before being withdrawn.

Viewing is strongly recommended. Helmet sold as seen.

Unusual group to a WW2 RAF Driver, Mr R C Searle of

New Park Road, London. During his career he drove

Arthur T. Harris, and Lieut Gen Ira C. Eaker 8th USAF.

Lot includes, hand signed photos of Harris and Eaker,

post-war letters from Lieut Gen Eaker, other ephemera,

and late issue 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence & War

Medals. He was so highly thought of that he was asked to

Drive in the US after the war. Interesting lot (qty)
