Rifle: A fine sporting rifle by Harris Holland of 98 New Bond Street London. (Firm became HOLLAND &

HOLLAND in 1876). Heavy octagonal barrel 38.5". Calibre approx .40, needle fire. A spatulate lever opens a threaded

plug which in turn drops the barrel and exposes the breech. Vendor describes it as a Needham's patent, needle fire rifle.

This rifle has been made to the highest standards and is in collectors grade condition. Obsolete calibre, no licence

required. A connoisseur's lot.

Rifle: A good and interesting P.53 Volunteer Service Rifle from 1858. Proof marks to barrel and the sold out of service

mark. Good walnut full stock with WD storekeepers mark over stamped with sold out of service mark. Lock marked

'CROWN' & 'V.R'. & '1858' and inspection mark. Crisp lock on 1st and 2nd cock. Butt plate tang well marked: 'V.Cs

22 & 29.' (V= Volunteer: Cs 22= 1st & 2nd Battalions the Cheshire Regiment. 29 - Rifle number). The butt plate is also

marked '22nd C.R.V. 29'. (22nd Regiment Cheshire Rifle Volunteers) in large letters. Brass furniture, lion ramrod,

three steel barrel bands. Light pitting to barrel. An interesting P.53 Enfield with regimental provenance - good working

order and condition.
