1899 under the name Thomas Smith, his real name being

Matthew Arnold Smith, later noted in 1916. Lot also

includes officer cap badge and pips, plus DLI engraved

hip flask, and superb full length photo. QSA & KSA

Military Cross WW1, reverse engraved '2nd Lieut J

Arnold Wilson Welch Regiment. Laventie France June

4th 1916'. Wilson served with the 20th Bn attd 14th Bn

Welch Regt. MC L/G 27 July 1916 'for conspicuous

gallantry when leading a raiding party into the enemy's

trenches. He got his party through uncut wire, inflicted

considerable loss on the enemy, and withdrew with great

skill. Later he returned under fire to search for a missing

officer'. EF (1)

Abraham Middlesex Yeo'. MC L/G 18/1/1918 'for

conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When the

enemy attacked his position, by his skilful leadership he

beat off three separate attacks, inflicting heavy casualties

on the enemy, and maintained his position intact'. GVF
