Sword: a rare Joubert Cledd WW1 trench fighting
weapon. One of a pair found in a Welsh farmhouse. The
Joubert Cledd was based on an ancient Welsh sword the
'CLEDD' and presented to men of the 9th Bn. R. Welsh
Fusiliers by Baron Howard de Walden in 1915. Broad
leaf shaped blade 17.5". Blade etched 'DROS URDDAS
CYMRU' with the Joubert factory stamp. Rope bound
hilt. Blade and mounts lightly rusted and with dark
patination. In its leather and canvas scabbard (some
wear). Age wear overall, stained, some pitting to blade.
*Note copies are known. Viewing recommended. A
collector's lot.
